Leeway Inc*** http://www.leeway.net/ Leeway is a 30 bed subacute facility specializing in providing compassionate individualized care for people aged 16 or over who have HIV/AIDS and who are sick enough to require 24-hour nursing care and supervision. Leeway provides a standard of care comparable to a skilled nursing home, with the focus being on the particular needs of each resident. Leeway provides intensive services to those in need of short term or long term placement, as well as palliative care. These services include IV therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, wound care, CAPD, whirlpool treatments, as well as supervision with medications and treatments.

The Mid-Fairfield AIDS Project*** http://www.mfap.com/ The Mid-Fairfield AIDS Project was founded in 1987 as an initial response to HIV/AIDS by individuals from a variety of local organizations in co-operation with the Norwalk Health Department and Norwalk Hospital.

Among the many services the project offers to people with HIV/AIDS is a buddy program which was the first program of its kind established in Fairfield County.  Training classes are provided for this program and are available to anyone interested in becoming a friend/buddy to a person living with HIV/AIDS.   Counseling, advocacy, and referrals are available through Case Mangers.

There is also a variety of support groups for people living with HIV/AIDS and their care givers, friends and families.  Mid-Fairfield AIDS Project has a People with Aids (PWA) speakers bureau available to speak to community church groups, youth organizations and schools.
